Abstract:
As traditional hydrocarbon resources become depleted, the need to transition the national economy to innovative, sustainable models of economic development becomes more urgent. The "forced" development of the Russian economy amid sanctions and confrontation with countries in the Collective West necessitates rethinking existing production and energy strategies that underlie the national economic development model. The article discusses current issues in forming a new paradigm for developing the domestic industrial system in light of the end of the hydrocarbon economy's dominance. The necessity of transitioning to a new economic model is substantiated due to a variety of factors, including the global transition to a green economy, increased geopolitical tensions, Russia's confrontation with the collective West regarding Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, and the introduction of economic sanctions. Internal challenges related to increasing the energy efficiency and profitability of the national economy also contribute to this necessity. The authors focus on transitioning the Russian national economy, whose current development model can be described as "mobilization," to a green economy that would ensure energy profitability and efficiency in production processes. This transition is becoming not only desirable but also vital to ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of the domestic industrial system. This article will be of interest to specialists in economics and energy, as well as politicians and economists dealing with sustainable development and strategic national economic planning.
