The role of technical universities in soft skills research

Abstract:
The article analyzes research clusters in the field of soft skills, taking into account their focus and publication activity. Special attention was paid to the question of where research on this topic is mainly conducted: in the humanitarian or in the technical environment. Another question is who is contributing more to the development of the field, and what is the role of technical universities in this process. For this purpose, criteria for selecting publications for analysis were formulated; relevant publications were searched in the scientific database elibrary; and metadata of selected publications were analyzed. The extracted data were statistically processed to identify common trends and patterns, and clusters of soft skills research and their focus were identified. As a result, the main research directions were identified; the points of concentration of the main research efforts were determined; and key institutions and authors were identified. Despite significant interest in the topic in humanities universities and research centers, the participation of technical universities, with rare exceptions represented by Bauman Moscow State Technical University, remains limited, which poses a problem for the development of high-tech industries in the country due to the lack of inter-university communication for the exchange of experience.
