Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problem of ensuring food security in the conditions of sanctions pressure and mobilization economy. The authors note that, in general, Russia's agro-industrial complex as the basis for ensuring food security since 2014 was quite successful in reflecting the emerging threats.
However, in response to the entry of Crimea into Russia and Russia's participation in the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Russia's agro-industrial complex was sanctioned by a number of countries, primarily the United States, the European Union and other Western states. Thus, according to the number of sanctions imposed in the entire history of economic and economic relations, Russia topped the list of leading countries. Specific sanctions against the Russian agro-industrial complex varied over time and were aimed at various aspects of the industry.
Despite the sanctions pressure, Russia is trying to strengthen its food security. At the beginning of 2023, the population of Russia was provided with grain by 185.5%, vegetable oil by 221.1%, fish by 153.3%, sugar by 103.2%, and meat by 101.6%. However, underconsumption was noted for fruits and berries (below the norm by 15%), milk and dairy products (by 4%), potatoes (by 1%), vegetables and melons (by 0.8%). However, the issues of qualitative improvement and formation of a healthy type of nutrition of the population, increasing the physical and economic accessibility of safe, high-quality food products, including organic, self-sufficiency in food products, and preventing the retirement of agricultural land from circulation have not been fully resolved. It was not possible to carry out import substitution of seeds of a number of important types of agricultural crops, breeding products, etc.
The revealed specifics illustrate the significant nature of the impact of anti-Russian sanctions on food security in Russia and require a revision of the main approaches in this area.
