Abstract:
The role of food security is related to the fact that food is a basic indicator of human activity. The level of the population’s food security and nutrition characterizes the level of economic development of the country as a whole, since food production has always been and always will be the very first condition of direct producers. Thus, the level of food supply is considered as the most important factor and determining criterion for the level of social life, the viability of the economic structure and state structure of any country. Food security problems are especially acute in densely populated developing countries and countries with high rates of population growth. These countries include all the countries of Central Asia. The article contains and analyzes the general state and trends of food security in Central Asian countries. It also describes a number of regulations and policies in the field of achieving food security in each country. Finally, comparative analysis and recommendations taking into account the current circumstances such as restrictions and barriers during the COVID-19 pandemic were made.
