Abstract:
The article opens a series of works devoted to the study of the universities' role in modern society. Currently, there is no single, universal model of education for sustainable development (ESD) in the world practice. The authors analyzed approaches to the formation of concepts of sustainable development in the education, as well as international and national initiatives aimed at activating the process of including universities in solving problems of the world community.
The study of foreign and domestic practices of implementing the concept of sustainable development in the universities environment, was the basis for the formation of the authors' approach to the formation of the concept of the University's sustainable development .
The results of this study may be of interest to authorities and management, university management, researchers, postgraduates of Russian and foreign universities, teachers, as well as all those interested in education for sustainable development.
