Abstract:
This article describes the innovative processes in education on the example of mass open online courses. They are part of a blended learning environment actively developing in the digital economy. These courses have a number of competitive advantages (individual training mode, the ability to study remotely at any University).
MOOCs change teaching methods, the market of educational services, the requirements for both teachers and students, there is a change in the strategies of development of the education market, its globalization, the removal of geographical and linguistic restrictions. There is a gradual diffusion of MOOCs, their diversification both in areas of training and in countries, as well as their commercialization. The purpose of this article is to study the direction of development of MOOCs in Russia, their dynamics as a social innovation, the forecast of their impact on the Russian and foreign education system, the analysis of advantages and disadvantages. We can note the relatively slow development of MOOCs in Russia, which is explained by both financial and resource constraints, insufficient advertising, inertia of teachers, at the same time the lack of separate courses, the high cost of textbooks makes MOOCs extremely attractive for students with their active desire to learn.
