The article shows that at the moment the economy of Kazakhstan remains poorly diversified. It is concluded that the country will be able to avoid the "middle income trap" due to structural transformation. It is shown that the emphasis should be placed on the development of the industrial sector and human capital, the growth of investment and productivity. In the medium term until 2025, the country plans to use systemic reforms to move to a new model of economic growth.
