Characteristics of conflict management in organizations of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

Abstract:
The article analyzes the causes of conflicts in the organizations of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Attention is paid to the mental characteristics of the personnel of Vietnamese organizations formed under the influence of traditional Vietnamese culture. The main ones are the predominance of collectivism over individualism and the emphasized desire to avoid confrontational relations when choosing the optimal conflict resolution strategy from all available alternatives. The research is based on both statistical data and the results of authors' interviews to identify the most common methods of conflict prevention and resolution in Vietnamese organizations. The authors also provide an analysis of specific management decisions made in Samsung's Vietnamese subsidiaries to solve problems related to conflict management in their operations. The materials, conclusions, and suggestions presented in the article may be useful to all those who study the theoretical and practical aspects of conflict management in organizations operating and developing in a different multicultural environment. This includes, first of all, heads and managers of organizations, specialists in personnel management, students of humanities and all those who are interested in this issue in the management structure of organizational behavior of personnel in organizations.
