Abstract:
The collective monograph is based on reports read by participants of the international conference "Autobiographical writings in an interdisciplinary research field: People, Texts, practices", held in Moscow at the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" on June 1-2, 2016. The authors of the chapters are scientists from Russia, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Mali, the Netherlands, and France. The autobiographical texts they study were created by representatives of various professional and social groups: not only intellectuals, members of the ruling elite and clerics, but also those who are usually called "little people". Geographically, these texts cover Russia and European countries, chronologically - the period from early Modern times to the XX century. The book is primarily addressed to university teachers and students, researchers (cultural scientists, historians, philologists, philosophers, anthropologists, psychologists). However, it is also addressed to a wide range of readers who are interested in people's stories about themselves in different periods of history and modern ways of studying them.
