Abstract:
The article considers apitourism as a promising type for the development of tourism in the Republic of Karelia. Apitourism (honey, bee) is a new type of tourism aimed at tasting, consuming, buying beekeeping products, and getting to know the life of bee communities. It is aimed not only at learning the health effects of beekeeping products, but also at educating the environmental responsibility of travelers to the environment. Analysis of the literature and websites showed that apitourism is a brand of some countries and regions. The Republic of Karelia has the opportunity to develop beekeeping, because medicinal herbs and multi-hectare cuttings overgrown with raspberries and blooming sally are a source of high-quality and environmentally friendly Northern honey. The purpose of the study is to identify possible target groups of apitourists and types of services that can interest a potential visitor to apiaries, as well as to formulate basic recommendations for the development of this type of tourism. As a result of the paper work, the main goals, functions of apitourism, and conditions of its organization are defined. It is revealed that women who would like not just to visit the apiary, but also to learn more about the medical characteristics of honey and other beekeeping products, their properties for preserving youth and beauty, are the main target audience of this type of tourism. Guests of the apiary are attracted by the opportunity to take care of their health, learn new things about the life of bees, and just relax and have a good rest. The ecological and natural component of Karelia corresponds to the development of beekeeping, so apitourism can become another brand of the region. Research in this area is relevant, and its results can contribute to the development of tourism, and will lead to the expansion of the range of tourist and excursion services in the region.
