Harmonization as a tool for integrated supply chain management

Abstract:
The article provides an approach to the development of integration links between participants in end-to-end supply chains based on the harmonization of the parties\' management documentation.
The results of the author\'s research in 67 manufacturing, trading, and freight forwarding companies in the field of harmonization of management documentation are presented.
The features of this form of joint activity at various levels of interaction of participants in modern supply chains are revealed. The elements of harmonization are defined both in the framework of simple inter-organization interaction between suppliers and customers and in the framework of strategic partnerships.
According to the results of the study, it is confirmed that at the level of simple inter-organization interaction, the result of harmonization is ensured by fragmentary coordination in the governing documents of individual operational procedures of the participants, allowing the latter to form a single basis for the implementation of the idea of end-to-end streaming supply chain management.
At the same time, as the analysis has shown, harmonization brings the greatest effectiveness in the context of strategic partnerships based on mutual recognition of the most important provisions of the guiding documents of the parties (primarily in the areas of joint planning, information integration and resource sharing).
The article may be of interest to researchers, specialists of logistics companies, academic staff, graduates and students specializing in logistics and supply chain management.
