Abstract:
With an increase in the rate of economic activity there is a steady growth in the number of accidents at industrial facilities. The disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station has been one of such disasters. This accident was the largest one in the last 25 years. The scale of the environmental disaster has been reflected in a large number of texts. The thematic content, verbal design and social orientation of the texts allow to combine these materials under the general name «discourse in a crisis situation». The intertwining of socio-political, environmental and social issues within the discourse determines the relevance of the research. The working hypothesis is as follows: modern crisis PR texts have a number of linguistic and stylistic particularities, which are manifested in the comparison of texts of related subjects, and determine the nature of discourse in a crisis situation.
The purpose of the study is to particularize linguistic features of the crisis situation coverage on the material of the Tokyo Electric Power Company and CNN information texts and to conduct a comparative analysis (based on the releases about the disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station).
The research objects are selected releases of the Tokyo Electric Power Company published on the official website during the environmental crisis caused by the disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, as well as CNN information texts.
The direct subject of the research is the linguistic and stylistic particularities of the releases of the Tokyo Electric Power Company as a reflection of the universal and specific features of the verbal component of the discourse in a crisis situation.
Keywords: coverage of the crisis situation, discourse of the crisis situation, text, press release, linguistic and stylistic particularities, functional and semantic category, information text
