    Abstract:
    The monograph is devoted to the improvement of reliability of solid wheels which are used on railway rolling stock. We focus on the issue of improvement of reliability of wheel pairs because in use there are cases of fatigue cracking and the cases of complete fracture of the wheels with a rim thickness reduction. Although these cases were sporadic, they are still a real threat to traffic safety. That is why we need to develop methods for improving fatigue strength of wheels in the manufacture of new solid wheels and in the repair of existing ones. The solution involves development, creation and introduction of new technical and technological methods for improving the design of the wheel. The book is intended for scientific and engineering employees of enterprises and research organizations operating in the field of design and operation of rolling stock, and also for teachers, post-graduate students and students of high schools of railway transport.
