Methodological bases of the territory's economic development potential in connection with Malthusian models of demographic dynamics

Abstract:
In modern conditions, when the domestic economy is in a resource-poor state, and the level of production technologies lags significantly behind the world level and needs to restore its own production potential, issues of optimal allocation of productive forces come to the fore (along with issues of military-political significance of the territory) and determine the structure of the state approach to the management of this particular territory, depending on the prospects of its development, economic and political importance. This, in turn, determines the methodological apparatus of the research presented in the article: the application of models of classical and post-classical population dynamics in the analysis of prospects for the development of the territory in conditions of acute resource scarcity of the economy. The authors of the article conducted a theoretical analysis of the potential for economic development of the territory in the context of Malthusian models of demographic dynamics. The authors found that, as a rule, the main obstacle to an effective demographic policy to correct the demographic dynamics in the current situation for most territories of our country is the insufficient resource potential of the economic area. The article substantiates a new terminological apparatus, including the concepts of "natural territory load capacity" and "formed (artificial) territory load capacity" as derivatives of its natural resource potential. The authors propose a scheme for the formation of various models of territorial development, taking into account their load capacity and factors of available resources. The results of the research will be of interest to specialists in regional economics and in the development of programmes and strategies for the economic development of the territory, including demographic policy.
