<abstract xml:lang="en">
The article examines the promotion of China’s national brand in Russia in 2014–2026. The topic has become more relevant since the withdrawal of many Western companies from the Russian market in 2022 made Chinese goods ubiquitous. A national brand is understood as stable perceptions of a country held by foreign audiences and shaped by product brands, culture, media, tourism and state policy. The study draws on the concepts of soft power and competitive identity and on the country-of-origin effect model. The empirical basis includes car and consumer electronics market statistics, Chinese customs data, public opinion polls and an international soft power ranking. The article identifies three promotion channels: commercial, humanitarian and media-diplomatic. The commercial channel is shown to play the leading role in transforming China’s image: the mass presence of Chinese cars and electronics has shifted the perception of Chinese goods from cheapness towards technological sophistication. A paradox of “hidden origin” is revealed: cars built on Chinese technologies but sold under new Russian brand names reduce the visibility of the Chinese brand. The author concludes that the sustainability of China’s national brand in Russia depends on coordinating corporate and state strategies and on moving from price-based to quality-based and service-based positioning.

<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru">
