<abstract xml:lang="en">
This article provides an overview and bibliometric analysis of sukuk academic research as an instrument of Islamic finance with a focus on Central Asian countries. Based on the Scopus database data for the period 2007-2026 and using VOSviewer software, 931 scientific studies were analyzed in order to identify key thematic areas, geographical and institutional structure of publications, as well as leading authors in this field. The results of the analysis show that the modern literature on sukuk is developing in several interrelated directions, reflecting various aspects of the functioning of Islamic finance.
Firstly, a significant body of research is devoted to the analysis of the macroeconomic and financial effects of sukuk market development, they demonstrate the impact of sukuk issuance on liquidity, stability of the banking sector and economic growth. These studies form the theoretical and empirical basis for understanding sukuk as a full-fledged instrument of capital markets.
Secondly, the direction related to sustainable development and green sukuk is actively developing. Studies [4], [10] and [17] examine the potential of this tool in financing environmental projects and achieving Sustainable Development Goals. These works reflect the formation of the modern ESG agenda in Islamic finance.

Thirdly, a number of publications focus on the behavioral and investment aspects of the sukuk market, that is, they analyze investment behavior, volatility and the reaction of financial markets to the issue of sukuk, which allows us to reveal the microeconomic mechanisms of their functioning.
In addition, a separate area of research is related to institutional and regulatory aspects, they are devoted to issues of regulation, risks of sovereign sukuk and compliance with Sharia standards, which reflects the key challenges of the institutional development of this market.
The remaining studies examine the historical evolution, regional features, and development prospects of sukuk, including the countries of Central Asia. These works make it possible to identify a significant research gap related to the region's underrepresentation in the international academic agenda.
The bibliometric analysis shows a significant concentration of scientific research in Malaysia, the Persian Gulf countries and Southeast Asia, while the countries of Central Asia remain extremely poorly represented in international databases. Research on Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is primarily institutional and forward-looking, focusing on regulatory barriers, the underdevelopment of the Islamic financial ecosystem, and limited sukuk issuance practices. The revealed imbalance confirms the scientific significance and practical relevance of further research aimed at adapting the international experience of the sukuk market to the economic and institutional conditions of the Central Asian countries.

<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru">
