The article examines theoretical approaches to defining Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC) in the practice of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China. The authors have systematized theoretical approaches to the concept of digital currencies, cryptocurrencies, and stablecoins, as well as supplemented the criteria for classifying digital currencies. Authors presented a comparative analysis of models the implementation of the digital yuan (e-CNY) and the digital ruble, including their key features and the official positions of National Regulators − the Bank of Russia and the People's Bank of China, regarding their promotion. The authors emphasize the significance of legal and institutional aspects of digital currency regulation in the context of digital economy development and intensifying sanctions pressure on Russia and China. The key findings have important practical implications for improving instruments of international settlements and cross-border payments between Russia and China, as well as for enhancing Russia's export potential through the adoption of new digital solutions in bilateral trade.
В научной статье рассматриваются теоретические подходы к определению цифровых валют центральных банков (Central Bank Digital Currency, CBDC) в практике Российской Федерации и зарубежной практике Китайской Народной Республики. Осуществлена систематизация теоретических подходов к понятию цифровых, криптовалют и стейблкоинов, дополнены критерии классификации цифровых валют. Представлен сравнительный анализ моделей внедрения цифрового юаня и цифрового рубля, их особенности, а также официальные позиции национальных регуляторов (Банка России, Народного банка Китая) по их продвижению. Сделан акцент на значимости нормативно-правовых и институциональных аспектов регулирования цифровых валют в условиях развития цифровой экономики и усиления санкционного давления на РФ и Китай. Результаты исследования имеют важное прикладное значение для совершенствования инструментов международных расчетов и трансграничных платежей России с Китаем и повышении экспортного потенциала РФ при внедрении новых цифровых решений во взаимной торговле
