Nowadays, there is the need for a systematic analysis of the effects of countries' participation in international economic unions amid global economic instability, fragmentation of trading systems and the search for new drivers of national development. This issue is particularly important in the comparative analysis of diverse integration associations, such as the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and BRICS, as well as in determining the role of Russia in these formats. The article systematizes theoretical approaches to the typology of economic integration, highlights the key effects resulting from the participation of countries in integration associations, and provides a comparative analysis of the manifestation of these effects on the example of the EAEU and BRICS. The article identifies the place of the Russian Federation in these unions. According to the results of the study, it was found that the initial classical five-stage model of economic integration development remains a theoretical foundation, but it requires taking into account institutional, geographical aspects, as well as the type and level of the economy of the participating countries and its sectoral structure. An empirical analysis of the principles of interaction within the EAEU and BRICS has revealed that the foundations for the formation of integration effects for Russia in these unions differ: participation in the EAEU provides economic benefits for both the core country (control over the common market and leverage), while participation in the BRICS provides geopolitical positioning and an alternative financial architecture.
Актуальность исследования обусловлена необходимостью системного анализа эффектов участия стран в международных экономических союзах в условиях глобальной экономической нестабильности, фрагментации торговых систем и поиска новых драйверов национального развития. Особую значимость данная проблематика приобретает при сравнительном анализе разнородных интеграционных объединений, таких как Евразийский экономический союз (ЕАЭС) и БРИКС, а также при определении роли России в этих форматах. В статье систематизируются теоретические подходы к типологии экономической интеграции, выделяются ключевые эффекты, возникающие в результате участия стран в интеграционных объединениях, а также проводится сравнительный анализ проявления этих эффектов на примере ЕАЭС и БРИКС с определением места Российской Федерации в данных союзах. По результатам исследования установлено, что исходная классическая пятиступенчатая модель развития экономической интеграции остается теоретическим фундаментом, но требует учета институциональных, географических аспектов, а также типа и уровня экономики стран-участниц и ее отраслевой структуры. Эмпирический анализ принципов взаимодействия внутри ЕАЭС и БРИКС выявил, что основы формирования эффектов интеграции для России в данных союзах различаются: участие в ЕАЭС дает экономические выгоды как для страны-ядра (контроль над общим рынком, рычаги влияния), а участие в БРИКС – геополитическое позиционирование и альтернативную финансовую архитектуру.
