The meat and meat products market is the most important sector of the Omsk Region's economy, influencing food security, economic growth and social development of the region. The meat industry makes a significant contribution to the gross regional product of the Omsk region both through the production of raw materials and through the processing and sale of meat products. The development of local production of meat and meat products helps to reduce the region's dependence on supplies from other regions and countries, increasing food security in the face of sanctions instability and allows the Omsk region to act as a supplier of meat products to other regions of Russia. The study of regional production volumes of meat and meat products is important in the context of the imposed sanctions on Russia as part of the development of strategic economic processes in critically changing conditions affecting the country's food security. The article examines the current problems of meat production in the Omsk region in terms of animal species and categories of farms. The article analyzes the trade balance of the meat and meat products market during the period of sanctions dependence (from 2017 to 2023) and highlights the main problems and trends in the development of the meat market in the region. The research results are addressed to local self-government, senior government officials and agricultural organizations.
