<abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article examines the evolution of academic research on the public funding of professional sports and provides a review of the funding practices of professional sports clubs in leading global leagues. The article analyzes the evolution of academic approaches to the topic, including key concepts and research questions. The review highlights that studies on public funding have primarily focused on North American and European sports, while the Russian context remains largely unexplored, underscoring the need for further research. In addition, a review of the funding practices of professional sports clubs in various countries is carried out.
 The analysis identifies similarities and differences between approaches, providing a basis for future studies of the Russian model of public funding. The article contributes to a deeper understanding of the subject and emphasizes the need to analyze the specifics of public funding of professional sports clubs in Russia.</p>

<trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Цель данной статьи — изучить эволюцию исследований государственного финансирования профессионального спорта и представить обзор практик финансирования профессиональных спортивных клубов в ведущих лигах мира. В первом разделе анализируется развитие академических подходов к теме, включая ключевые концепции и исследовательские вопросы. Обзор показывает, что исследования государственного финансирования преимущественно фокусировались на североамериканском и европейском спорте, тогда как российский контекст остаётся практически неизученным, что подчеркивает актуальность дальнейших исследований по теме. Во втором разделе представлены практики финансирования профессиональных спортивных клубов в различных странах. Анализ выявляет различия и сходства между подходами, что также ложится в основу для будущего изучения российской модели государственного финансирования. Работа способствует углублению понимания темы и обосновывает необходимость дальнейшего анализа специфики финансирования профессиональных спортивных клубов в России.</p>
