The article substantiates the significance and defines the scale and territorial distribution of the traded sector of the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The authors evaluate the productivity of the traded sector of the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The authors have developed criteria for identifying traded industries through employment indicators in accordance with the approach proposed by the Harvard Business School. The traded industries with the largest share of employment and a high level of average monthly wages are identified. The regions of Kazakhstan were ranked by the number of traded industries and the share of employment. The regions with the most diversified traded sector are as follows: the city of Almaty, Almaty, Karaganda, East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar and Aktobe regions. It was revealed that a large proportion of the able-bodied population of Kazakhstan is employed in the non-tradable sector of the economy. At the same time, labor productivity was significantly higher in the traded sector. The authors propose measures to expand the traded sector of the country's economy. В данной статье обоснована значимость, определены масштабы и территориальное распределение, а также оценена производительность торгуемого сектора экономики Республики Казахстан. Авторами выработаны и обоснованы критерии для идентификации торгуемых отраслей через показатели занятости в соответствии с подходом, предложенным Гарвардской школой бизнеса. Выделены торгуемые отрасли с наибольшей долей занятости населения и высоким уровнем среднемесячной заработной платы. Проведено ранжирование регионов Казахстана по количеству торгуемых отраслей и доли занятости в них. Расчеты показали, что регионами с наиболее диверсифицированным торгуемым сектором оказались город Алматы, Алматинская, Карагандинская, Восточно-Казахстанская, Павлодарская и Актюбинская области. Вместе с тем, выявлено, что большая доля трудоспособного населения Казахстана занята в неторгуемом секторе экономики, при этом производительность труда оказалась значительно выше в торгуемом секторе. Авторами предложены меры по расширению торгуемого сектора экономики страны.
